This song is based on Matthew 6:28-30, which says “And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, they grow, they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith??
The words are a little hard to understand because the recorded music is so loud, so here are the lyrics.
CONSIDER THE LILIES
1
Have you ever felt so worried
That you lost your peace of mind
Have you been discouraged
So you didn’t want to waste your time
Have you ever cried out to Him
And revealed your hearts desires
Well consider the lilies
And know that God loves you
******************************
CHORUS
Consider the Lilies
Neither do they toil nor spin
See how they sprout see how they grow
Witness the joy within
And don’t you ever worry
About anything
For the Lord Our God is King
Consider the lilies
And remember that God loves you
*******************************
2
Have you ever been forsaken
And you felt so all alone
Have you ever been so lost
That you felt all hope was gone
Have you ever knelt before Him
Made your heartaches to Him known
Well consider the lilies
And know that God loves you
(CHORUS)
*************************************************
3
I know now that I can trust Him
All around I see His grace
And I know He looks upon me
As I worship in this place
I have cried and knelt before Him
I have sought His smiling face
I considered the lilies
And I know that God loves me
(CHORUS)
