What is JAMM?

JAMM stands for Just a Musical Moment, and these are my musings about God, music, writing, history, ministry and any and everything else.  If you’ve not yet read any of the JAMM sessions, my suggestion would be that you start from the bottom, which is the first one, and work your way up.  Of course, if you already follow me on Facebook and have seen these before, then just know that the latest one(s) are at the top.  Hope you enjoy and that you can learn something new!

More than a JAMM

JAMM With Me Today (July 21st)

I took Just A Musical Moment today to finally read a book I had ordered awhile ago called Snakes in the Lobby, by Scott MacLeod. It is a book that contains an interesting vision about the state of music ministry and the Christian music industry. It also ends by talking about the Renaissance that is taking place and will continue to take place within the realm of music and the arts, and its impact on our relationship with God.

Quite interesting to me as I am just learning more about dreams and visions.

JAMMin’ for Motivation (June 28th)

Trying to get motivated. Hunger Action Month is coming up in September. Deciding what type of activity, if any, to host with my HOPE (Hunger Outdated Poverty Eliminated) initiative/-depends on how much help I get I guess.

So taking Just A Musical Moment to listen to my HOPE playlist. Music always lifts my spirits and gets me going. At some point, need to add the song I wrote as well as my daughter’s friend’s song that she wrote.

Anyway, placing this year’s initiative in God’s hands. He’ll lead the way. May it become what He desires.

If you have a chance, have a listen:

Fascinating JAMM (June 26th)

This is fascinating to me, so I had to take Just A Musical Moment out to talk about it. The photo below shows the effects of both positive and negative words on water crystals. I found this as I was reading “The Sound of Healing” from the Wholetones Healing Project.

And just think we are mostly made of water so imagine the effect on the body when someone says something negative to you. The effect on you and the effect on that individual!

Let’s JAMM with these kids (June 23, 2017)

Wanted to take Just A Musical Moment to share this video. Check out how these students partied at their graduation!  See my Facebook page post on June 23 at 9:49 a.m.   My Facebook page is:  http://facebook.com/thisishissong

JAMM (June 22, 2017)

“Music is not limited to the world of sound. There exists a Music of the visual world.” That is a quote from Oskar Fischinger, whose birthday it is, and Google paid tribute to him with this little display.

So I took Just A Musical Moment out to compare a little musical light show. And here’s your chance to do the same.

Thanks Nia for sending to me.

JAMM, JAMM, JAMM (June 21, 2017)

Okay, it seems like I am saying and doing a lot of things today (June 21st) in honor and recognition of World Music Day, but hey you know me and how I do!

So taking Just A Musical Moment out to share my SMILE playlist with you. SMILE stands for Sharon’s Musical Interactive Listening Experience (and yes I have an acronym for almost everything!). My SMILE playlist is not only a way for me to share music with you but also for you to share music with me. Got any music you’d like to add to brighten my day? Maybe some oldies but goodies!

My playlist is in Spotify, so if you have Spotify, just log in and listen and/or add your uplifting, inspirational music (doesn’t have to be gospel but should have a positive message). If you don’t have Spotify, it’s easy and free! Or you can leave a comment below and let me know what song you would like for me to add, and I will consider.

Let’s JAMM (June 14, 2017)

I would like to take Just A Musical Moment to share this quote with you.  It is attributed to Jimi Hendrix and it says “Music doesn’t lie. If there is something to be changed in this world, then it can only happen through music.”

JAMMin’ with Marley

You’ve got to take Just A Musical Moment to hear Marley…

Catch it on my facebook page at http://facebook.com/thisishissong.

How about another JAMM session? (June 8, 2017)

This time, I want to take Just A Musical Moment to say that I attended service on Pentecost Sunday, June 4th at my brother Harold’s church, Cathedral at the Crossroads located at 10789 Old Halls Ferry Road. I really enjoyed the fellowship, the sermon and the music. Check them out here athttp://catcchurch.org.

Time to JAMM with me (June 6, 2017)

I know my St Rita family remembers this! Today’s Just a Musical Moment is a flashback to my days at St Rita when I was in charge of the youth choir, fab, which stands for ‘followers and believers. This is the members of fab plus some additional St Rita kids who joined in to ask if Jesus lives in your heart using their voices and sign language. Special thanks to my leads Sydni, Havyn and especially to Nia who taught us all the sign language movements for this song.

It’s Time to JAMM (June 4, 2017)

I wanted to take Just a Musical Moment to recognize my great-nephew Harold Walehwa who graduated on Friday with the 2017 CLass of Clayton High. IT was a wonderful ceremony and we, his family, couldn’t be prouder!

I have to confess– my camera died, so I didn’t get any pix, so thanks to my niece Alona Melody for sharing this picture.

Way to go Harold! May you be blessed!

Come and JAMM with me today  (June 3, 2017)

This weekend I have been spending some time with my dear friend and sister in Christ, Linda. We ate at Applebees last night where we enjoyed good food and fellowship. While we were there, she opened a gift I had sent to her from The Believer’s Box.

This month’s box was the Soak up the “Son” box, and according to their website if you purchase today, your June Box will ship the first week of June. Also, a portion of the proceeds from each box will be donated to The Children’s Hunger Fund, a Christian organization which provides nourishing food for hungry kids across America and around the world. You can visit them in the “This is His Song ” Resource Lounge or at http://www.thebelieversbox.com/

Time for another JAMM session (June 2, 2017)

Today’s Just a Musical Moment features me trying out (or maybe remembering from my childhood) some dance moves while I was in Rayne, Louisiana. Hey, I gotta remember how to loosen up, but it’s all good cuz I was having fun! (See Facebook post for the video)

Time for another JAMM session. (May 16, 2017)

This is Just a Musical Moment day 4. Took my brother Errol dog shopping again. This time came home with the prize–peanut, a 5-year old chihuahua mix. What’s the first thing I did–played her some nice soothing music’

She’s so sweet!!

Time for another JAMM session!

It’s time for Just a Musical Moment. Numbering these now so this is #3, and it’s about 528 radio.

I am learning lots about healing and sound frequencies. Maybe garbage to some but quite interesting to me. I am. After all a Math Major and a Music Minor, so it all relates to my world. Furthermore sound is very important and central to our existence–wasn’t it God, after all, who used is powerful voice to speak the world into existence!

I’m studying about 444 hz as the Key of David, the ultimate praise and worshipper, and about 528 hz, which some refer too as the “miracle” frequency. Still learning , more to come, but meanwhile I discovered 528 radio, which has all genres (not just Christian music) tuned to 528. Check it out…

Time for a JAMM session!

Okay, just yesterday when I introduced JAMM (Just. A Musical Moment), I said that it generally would not feature songs since you already get that from me in the song of the day. But hey, it’s Mother’s Day and I just had to somehow feature this. These kids can sang! Enjoy!  (Visit me on Facebook at http://facebook/thisishissong/ or go to Micah Whitley Music’s Facebook page to see the post).

It’s JAMM time!

Okay what is JAMM time? Well I am glad you asked…

JAMM stands for Just a Musical Moment. Cute, huh? Each day, I will bring to you a daily quote, musical thought, or other musical inspiration. Now, this won’t be a place where I will post songs– you already get that in the song of the day message. Instead, this may be something I am learning as I study about God, music and healing; or an interesting moment in musical history, or it may be something altogether different–we’ll just see how it goes. So this first one will be short and sweet! And guess what, they likely all will be so it’s all good!

“Life is too short to live out of tune.”

This is a quote from a book I am reading called “The Sound of Healing” by Michael S. Tyrrell of the Wholetones Healing Project.. Good stuff! More to come…
Meanwhile, you can learn about Wholetones in my resource lounge at http://thisishissong.com/resources/
